Road safety talk at St Leonards C of E Primary school.

Pcso's Mandy Leek and Helen Oakley were invited to speak with years 3 & 4 pupils at St Leonards primary school about road safety .

The pupils engaged really well and we were impressed to hear how much knowledge they have around keeping themselves and other people safe when crossing roads / cycling and using their scooters . We discussed using lights on bikes wearing helmets and    wearing high visibility /bright clothing during hours of darkness . A few mentioned the use of electric scooters and where they can ride them . Advice was given that this should only be done on private land with permission of the land owners and definitely not on roads and pavements, should this happen then officers can seize them .

For more information on e scooters please check . www.gov.uk/guidance/e-scooter-trials-guidance-for-users

We are heading back to the school in a few weeks for a questions and answers session as they all wanted to ask so many questions , we will also be judging some posters that the children have been asked to create .
